We speak fluent DFS — here's the shorthand, plain and quick, so nothing on the live board catches you out.

Sweat
Watching your lineup score live — the nervy stretch where every play swings your night.
Projection
Your expected fantasy points for a player — the number live scoring is measured against. Yours or imported.
Pace
Whether a player is scoring fast enough to beat their projection, or falling behind it.
Hot / cold
Hot means scoring above pace right now; cold means lagging behind it.
Optimal lineup
The best lineup you could have built from this slate — your benchmark for what was on the table.
Value
Points per $1,000 of salary — how much production you're getting for what a player costs.
Salary cap
The budget you build under — every player costs salary and your lineup has to fit within it.
Slate
The set of games and the player pool you build lineups from.
FPts
Fantasy points — real-game stats converted into points by the contest's scoring rules.
