Short answer: NHL DFS is decided by more than goals. Shots on goal, blocked shots, saves and the +3 bonuses for hitting a line (five shots, three blocks, three points, 35 saves, a hat trick) move your lineup all night, and a goalie's win or shutout can swing a slate. A live tracker that turns every one of those into fantasy points, and shows who is close to a bonus, is the only way to follow it without doing the maths yourself.
Why hockey is tricky to sweat
A hockey box score tells you goals and assists. Your DraftKings lineup also scores every shot, every block and every save, and pays a flat bonus for reaching a line. So a player with no goals can be having a big night, and a defenceman one block short of +3 is worth watching closely. Power plays matter too: a team up a man is where the next point is likeliest.
What to track for the NHL
- Live points by player, period by period. Shots and blocks add up quietly, so seeing them as fantasy points keeps you honest about who is actually producing.
- Bonuses in reach. Five shots on goal, three blocked shots, three points, 35 saves and a hat trick are each worth +3 on DraftKings, once. Knowing who is one away is the hockey sweat.
- Your goalie. Saves, goals against, the win and a possible shutout are a big share of an NHL lineup's points, and they change fast.
- Power plays. When one of your teams goes on the power play, the board says which of your players are on the side with the advantage.
- Exposure across entries. If your top line is in most of your lineups, their night decides yours.
How LiveSlates handles the NHL
Add your DraftKings NHL lineup and LiveSlates shows live points, pace, hot and cold players, the Dream Team, and a live wire of every shot, save, goal and block that moved your lineups. Bonus Watch groups every +3 your players are chasing, closest first, with the bonuses already banked; a goalie panel tracks saves, the win and the shutout; power plays are flagged as they start. On Pro you can import your DraftKings entries, add your own projections, build your own board, and roll up every entry for your exposure. It is free to build and track one lineup per slate.
